There are several things that have happened in my life that leave an everlasting impression. This sweet little baby boys birth is one of those.
Personally, around the arrival time of sweet Cortland I had a lot of negative things surrounding me and with my brother Adams birthday approaching I found myself in a funk as each year it is just a reminder of how much I miss him and how long he has been gone.
But as I have found God works in such beautiful ways and allows for healing and restoration in unexpected places.
Chris and Mariska had asked me to do a birth story video of Cortland. It was so out of my comfort zone as videoing is so new to me, but even when I tried to say I could help them find someone else, they both insisted and encouraged me to give it a try. They didn't have to because they hardly know me, but they did, and I am so grateful for that.
On the evening of July 9th I got a text from Mariska that they were headed to the hospital and to be on call. I don't think I slept at all that night. She called the next morning around 545/6ish and said to head to the hospital. My mind was going so fast and I drove so fast to the hospital.
As I sat there and watched her and Chris' love for each other arrive in the form of a precious little baby boy I was hit with this overwhelming sensation of peace and love. Cortland arrived on the morning of July 10th. July 10th was my brother Adams birthday. July 10th was a day I was dreading because it was a reminder of all the things I had lost over the last 15 years of my life. But, In my heart I know God specifically placed me with Chris and Mariska that morning to witness the beauty of His creation and to be reminded of his unwavering, unfathomable love for us... His children. And that He can take even the lowest moments in our life and turn them into the most beautiful.
There is so much more I could write but I am not sure I could even put my thoughts and emotions into words.
What I do know is I am so grateful God put Chris and Mariska in my life to encourage me to move forward in my business but it ended up encouraging me to move forward in life looking for positives even in the moments we don't think "good things" are possible.
AND... with that, here is the birth story of sweet Cortland as well as his newborn pictures. :)
Thank you Chris and Mariska for all you did for me, from the bottom of my heart!!! :)
